Charlotte
Forever in Paris

Charlotte was born in Nice (South of France) then moved to Paris when she was four and has been living here ever since. Passionate about furniture design from the 20th Century, she quickly became a well-known expert in the field. Her skills are even broader as she loves vintage clothes as well. Constantly hunting for new areas, she knows all the best addresses in the City of Light. She is a regular of “les Puces de Saint Ouen” and is on a first name basis with the merchants there. In other words, she is the best decorative arts expert you can find to guide you through this vintage wonderland.

Three words that define you as a Parisian?

In a hurry : running to the metro, running in the streets and even running at home sometimes...
Sociable : Paris is the kind of place where you never know who you will meet. I had some really rewarding encounters!
Curious : there is so much to discover here!

In the morning, “baguette” or “croissant”?

Baguette... With cheese! I love hearty breakfasts! Also, cheese is my favorite food...not very glamourous, I know, but soooooooo French!!

Favorite French expression(s)?

"Filer comme un pet sur une toile cirée" : I like expressions a lot! Especially when they are full of imagery. Literally, this one means "to run off like a fart on an oilcloth". Delightful!

Give me a trick to make a Parisian waiter smile?

They're not that bad! I must admit some are as friendly as bears with a sore head. This case is well outside my area of expertise...

Favorite “Apero” spot?

At home! Otherwise, Chez Prune (36, rue Beaurepaire, Paris 10e) which is on the banks of the Canal Saint Martin. I also recommend this place for the brunch on sundays.

“Disagreeing” is A philosophy in France. Do you agree with that ?

French people are very argumentative. They are such whiners! We are a rebellious people and we admit to it! But I promise, we also have good sides...

Burgundy or Bordeaux?

Bordeaux! I especially like the Graves wines. There's nothing better than a good meal with a good bottle of wine...

What’s your favorite place in France? Outside Paris of course.

I think the most beautiful place in the world is a village called Villefranche Sur Mer, near Nice, in the South of France. I grew up there. The view on the harbor is wonderful!
