It isn’t exactly fair to say that French people possess an innate ability to dress well, but seeing so many stylish Parisians on the street all but reinforces the stereotype. How do they do it? Putting aside the theory of just being born fashionistas, there’s a much simpler explanation: Parisians know where to shop. They know exactly where to get that top, or that pair of boyfriend jeans that ties an entire outfit together.
After a comprehensive search, we’ve found just the right people to divulge their personal list of the best boutiques in the fashion hotspot of the city, the Marais. Our guides are lifelong fashionistas who have spent years ferreting around this quarter in search of the most stylish finds. As designers, they’ve also fulfilled their own fashion fantasies, adding to their expertise in the domain. Think of them as your own personal fashion databank for the perfect afternoon of shopping in “Le Marais”.
Bianca is South African born and bred, but thanks to her Italian heritage has always had a taste for the European way of life. Which for her means: taking ones time to enjoy the little details one can often miss when accustomed to life in a big city. She met her companion whilst lost on the streets of Paris seven years ago and it was a coup de foudre that has never ended. So, she ended up moving to Paris for love.. and art. She completed her masters in fine arts, or arts plastique, as they call it here, and is now working part-time in fashion — the rest of the time she gives over to working at her artist's studio.
When she is not working, she loves to check out the lastest concept stores in the Marais, and pick up something special to compliment her ever expanding wardrobe. She is a particular fan of designer shoes — and like a heat-seeking missile — she knows exactly where to find the most sought-after Parisian footwear with pin-point precision. They don't call her a fashionista for nothing!
Vicky’s affection has never dimmed for the enchanted city of Paris. The young Australian moved to the city of light to complete her studies at ESMOD Paris — one of the oldest fashion schools in the world — where she was taught classical French techniques and traditions. She has gone on to work with several French fashion houses and is always looking for new ways to in which to capitalise on her talents and her experience. Vicky finds her inspiration primarily from music, films, and of course, while roaming the streets of Paris, admiring the magical things that sometimes go unnoticed — whether it be the old architecture, or the elderly well-dressed Parisians who feed the birds their left-over baguette. All-in-all Vicky has fallen for the city's charm, and hopes to share this love with others.
After studying fashion design, Céline has worked as a costume and fashion designer for French TV and press which allowed her to meet with a high number of experimental designers. Presently, she draws patterns and creates prints for several garment and accessory brands. The Marais Area of Paris is a bargain hunting ground even for Céline. She loves to stroll through this “village inside Paris” where she occasionally meets designer friends.
Born in Calcutta, India, Gaya says India belongs to her soul and Paris is her haven. She is drawn to anything that embodies beauty, art, fashion, furniture, textiles, and food.
Fashion and art are her sources of inspiration and what keeps her ticking. She is always on the lookout for what's trendy, but also has a soft spot for the old-fashioned (she secretly prefers fountain pens to tactile screens). For her, Paris is the city where fashion, art, old and new so beautifully co-exisit.
Cordelia is a true Parisian. Saint Germain des Prés and Cordelia have a true love story, especially because they have a lot in common. Once famous for the literature the area gave birth to, a fresh wind has swept in the young and hip from all over Paris. Music, gastronomy, literature, fashion, design, art … everything happen’s here! After studying fashion at Esmod Paris where she focused on designing women's clothes and underwear, she became a production assistant for Issey Miyake while simultaneously freelancing for other brands. Not unlike many designers, Cordelia is always looking for sources of inspiration through exhibitions, new photographers, painters, and musicians. Sensible with a taste for the colorful, she finds that life without art is downright boring.
Italian-born and raised in the Netherlands, Deborah completed a degree in Fashion Styling before embarking on several adventures abroad including New York, Amsterdam and Paris, She's now a full time freelance stylist and is currently the creative director for the acclaimed ballerina brand Vythies. She considers herself a life enthusiast and a lover of all things pretty. She will be the perfect guide to show you the best addresses for shopping in Paris, no matter you style or budget!

Rendez-vous at Saint Paul metro: your stairway to style heaven. Once a sort of hinterland, the Marais (literally meaning marsh) has experienced a complete rejuvenation in the past few decades. Today this quirky quarter houses a trendy population of young sophistiqués, which includes the gay hub of the city, and the traditional Jewish Community.
Of course, your guide will elaborate on this and much more before you move on to the Place Sainte Catherine, a beautiful hidden gem just above Saint Paul. Enjoy a drink under a lovely canopy of mulberry trees as you spill the beans on your ideal style, your shopping budget and preferences, as well as your goal for the tour, so that your guide can plan the perfect experience for you.
A tidy sum of the ubiquitous French brands started out as small boutiques in the Marais, which the quarter is teeming with. Here you’ll find many of the brands that don’t exist outside of France. This includes Claudie Pierlot, known as typically parisienne and flawlessly chic; Manoush, which has a savage and oriental flare; and the classic Comptoir des Cotonniers, just to name a few. More of a vintage addict? Your expert guide will help you uncover the best vintage shopping spots in the area in the blink of an eye.
Perhaps you’ve got a taste for the unconventional. Discover the boutiques of some of the freshest minds in fashion and even go behind the scenes at the atelier of a young designer. Let loose and live up every minute of your stylish joyride. Take advantage of your guide’s style savvy. Just when you thought that your fashion dream come true couldn’t get any better, we have one more question: Are you ready to accessorize?
