Knowing Bordeaux inside-out comes with years of exploring, but above all a passion for discovering all the magic that a city has to offer. Our city guides are selected for their unconditional love for Bordeaux, and their desire to share it with our visitors. Leaving no stone unturned, our guides are always ready to go the extra mile to ensure that those who explore with them get to discover the Bordeaux that truly makes them tick.
We will start this jaunt in a place that marked the brightest but also the darkest days of Bordeaux: Place de la Bourse. By the Garonne river, the historical maritime trade artery that gave Bordeaux its prestige, no one can remain indifferent to the magnificent surrounding architecture. But did you know that not so long ago, where you stand, slavery used to be a major income for Aquitaine's region?
We’ll now start getting deeper in the historical centre, wandering in the quaint medieval streets and get whaoooed by Place St Pierre, Porte Cailhau, or the Grosse Cloche, one of the oldest belfries in France and undoubtedly Localers favourite sights! You’ll hear about the first settlers, but also about corsairs & pirates, and of course, we’ll retrace the tumultuous life of Eleanor of Aquitaine and other illustrious figures that shaped Bordeaux through the ages. A little further is St André Cathedral, and the Grand Theatre, where your guide will provide interesting and fun facts about the city’s history, helping you understand the deep connections between the city, its people and its wine.
Now on the UNESCO World Heritage List, symbol of the city’s new-found prosperity, Bordeaux has now regained his renowned reputation, and is attracting hordes of people to become true bordelaise. And a true local knows a thing or two about Bordeaux’s terroir. Our visit is not complete without hitting the wine scene! Be sure we’ll get that covered at a seated tasting, where you’ll taste 3 different wines from the Bordeaux region! We’ll wrap your tour by strolling in a 19th century park designated by the French government as a Historical Monument.
