The itinerary

Your journey back in time begins on Lyon’s central peninsula – the Presqu’Ile, where you’ll discover the Hôtel de Ville - one of the key German strongholds in Occupied Lyon. Just north of the famous Place des Terreaux, you’ll take a brief look at the secrets passages or traboules of the Croix Rousse where you’ll hear about Jean Moulin, undoubtedly one of the most famous names of La Résistance. A short walk over the River Saône will bring you to the Palais de Justice – Lyon’s court of law where Commander Klaus Barbie was brought to justice for his crimes.

The second leg of the tour takes you back to the Presqu’Ile where you’ll discover the Place Bellecour, where the allied troops paraded in victory following the Liberation of Lyon, the Jewish Synagogue and the Resistance Memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives fighting in secrecy for the Liberation of France. To conclude the tour, your guide will take you to the Perrache district, place of remembrance for those who were deported during the War but also the place to which the troops and those who survived deportation returned to Lyon and the surrounding region following the Liberation.
