The itinerary

Paris has been passionately courted by the cinema visionary figures from the very beginning. This success is not only due to its ambiance, its quaint streets and stunning architecture but also to the incredible cinematic effervescence that started in Paris at the very end of the 19th Century. Stunning as always, sophisticated and ever so glamorous, Paris naturally became one the cinema’s most cherished ambassador. We’ll start the tour on place de la Concorde, where you’ll have views on camera perfect locations that inspired generations of film makers, like the Eiffel Tower, the Tuileries Gardens, and the Royal Way.

As we start walking towards Place Vendôme and the Opéra, which have seen their fair share of celebrities over the years, your tour guide will point out some iconic Parisian spots constantly bustling with movie sets, and give you a few crusty details on where some local big names like to go! A couple of blocks away (but a 120 years of film history before the Da Vinci Code or Midnight in Paris!), your guide will explain Paris’s role in cinematic history as you see the building where the Lumière brothers broadcasted the first film projections in front of a public back in 1895.

Then came the movie theaters, Gaumont, and the Golden Age of Cinema. You will hear about the 20th Century innovative technologies, like special effects, that made cinema become a popular entertainment. We’ll keep strolling start getting deeper in Paris true cinema hub, the Grands Boulevards, to discover the beating heart of this new form of entertainment, and hear all about the revolution of public broadcasting. Bref, the city is practically a living, breathing movie set! We’ll finish our exploration at the edge of les Halles district where your guide can give you plenty of recommendations to follow on the topic. That’s a wrap folks!
