Paris Neighborhoods

Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements. Each quarter has something unique to offer, with a range of local experiences that offer a glimpse into the day-to-day life of the Parisian. Shopping, food, art, and gobs of culture abound if you know where to find them. These articles written by locals are your inside track.

The Canal Saint-Martin is the city’s hottest up-and-coming neighborhood with creative gastronomy, specialty cafes, ethnic lounges and restaurants—not to mention the scenic strolls to be had along the banks of the 19th century waterway that cuts through the district.

If it’s incredible French eats you’re after, be sure to head to SoPi (South of Pigalle) and the Rue des Martyrs. For bars, nightlife, and a psychedelic glass of absinthe head to the Bastille area in the 11th arrondissement. If ever there were a good place to over-pay for a cup of coffee it’s in the ultra-chic Saint Germain des Prés district, previous home to Paris jazz clubs, existentialist writers, and caffeine-induced intellectualism. You may even run into Scarlett Johansson while you’re there. Or get lost in the winding streets of the Marais and you’ll be sure to stumble onto a tucked away gem near a cobblestone alley or flowery courtyard.

The neighborhoods of Paris are bursting with endless and authentic experiences, so strap on those walking shoes and get to it! And say bonjour to Ms. Johansson for us when you do.
